Escambia County students awarded PBCI scholarship at livestock expo

Two Escambia County, Ala. students were awarded a scholarship by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians (PBCI) for their participation in Alabama’s livestock industry on March 17 at a ceremony held in coordination with the Southeastern Livestock Exposition Rodeo, according to a release. Isabella Sanders of Atmore and Tanner Wood of Brewton were awarded a scholarship. Shown from L to R: PBCI Tribal Council Member Keith Martin; Sanders; and SLE President Frank Ellis. Not pictured, Wood. The PBCI has a history of supporting youth in livestock. Each year, young people from each of Alabama’s 67 counties are awarded scholarships from the Tribe to aid in future participation in youth livestock events or further education during SLE Livestock Week.
