EA boys finish first in home track meet March 27

Escambia Academy’s boys track and field team finished first during its regular meet March 27 at home.

The Cougars finished with 108 points, 14 over second place finisher Hooper Academy. Wilcox Academy finished third with 77; Snook Christian finished fourth with 65.5; and Fort Dale rounded out the top five with 65 points.

In girls action, the Lady Cougars finished eighth with 32 points.

Some 13 teams competed in the meet.

EA results by gender and category included:

Boys

• 100-meter dash – Quinton Odom, second place, 12.39 seconds; Jamarion Crenshaw, third place, 12.66 seconds; and Cameron Perkins, 17th place, 14.04 seconds

• 200-meter dash – Kaidyn Windham, fourth place, 27.49 seconds

• 400-meter dash – Windham, eighth place, 1 minute, 3.38 seconds; and Timmy Doerr, 11th place, 1:06.99

• 800-meter run – Kason Bryant, eighth place, 2:57.17; and Perkins, ninth place, 3:01.04

• 1600-meter run – Danny Doerr, first place, 5:05.25; Eli Covington, second place, 5:06.64; Bryant, seventh place, 6:26.38; and Jameson Agerton, eighth place, 6:33.15

• 3200-meter run – Bryant, fourth place, 13:53.38; Agerton, fifth place, 14:11.22; and Patrick Byrd, seventh place, 16:48.96

• 110-meter hurdles – Yadarius McNeal, seventh place, 21.75 seconds

• 300-meter hurdles – McNeal, third lpace, 53.40 seconds

• 4×100-meter relay – EA, first place, 46.35 seconds

• Long jump – Odom, first place, 20-0 meters; Eli McElhaney, fourth place, 17-3 meters; and Logan Madden, 12th place, 14-4.5 meters

• Triple jump – Odom, first place, 42-9 meters; Perkins, third place, 33-6 meters; and D. Doerr, fourth place, 30-1 meters

• Discus – Cade Leachman, seventh place, 87-9 meters; Brayden Faircloth, fourth place, 81-0 meters; Tyson Millikan, fifth place, 73-11 meters; and Jackson Parker, seventh place, 52-0 meters

• Shot put – Millikan, 24th place, 26-5.5 meters; Brayden McBride, 25th place, 25-11.5 meters; and Shawn McBride, 27th place, 24-3.5 meters

Girls

• 100-meter dash – Treasure Riley, third place, 14.96 seconds; and Scottla Williams, fourth place, 15.03 seconds

• 200-meter dash – Kimorah Goldsmith, eighth place, 32.23 seconds; and Scottlia Williams, 22nd place, 36.31 seconds

• 400-meter dash – Paisly Donaldson, third place, 1:09.51

• 800-meter run – Jayd Handley, eighth place, 3:42.10

• 100-meter hurdles – Goldsmith, fifth place, 21.93 seconds

• 4×100-meter relay – EA, third place, 58.45 seconds

• High jump – Scottlia Williams, eighth place, 3-10 meters

• Long jump – Caelyn McElhaney, 11th place, 12-0 meters

• Discus – C. McElhaney, seventh place, 60-8 meters

• Shot put – Tyleaha James, ninth place, 24-0.5 meters

Additionally, over the spring break holiday, two distance runners competed in a run in Auburn on March 13.

Covington and D. Doerr ran the 1600-meter run with Doerr finishing third and Covington fourth.

Later in the day the 800-meter run would be final event and Doerr secured fifth with new personal record of 2:21.65, and Covington just a second of setting a new personal record, finishing with 2:22.67 placing seventh overall for the event.

Doerr and Covington racked up 27 points, finishing 10th.

Doerr was also listed as the track event MVP for his finishes in the running events but also tied for 2nd place overall male.
