J.U. Blacksher tops Northview 8-6 Friday

J.U. Blacksher scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and beat Northview 8-6 today in regular baseball action in Uriah.

The Chiefs battled back from a 6-3 deficit to score three runs in the fifth. JUB shot out to a 3-0 lead after the first, and led 5-3 going into the fourth.

Northview’s Jase Portwood and Kelan Jurey tallied one hit each to lead the Chiefs.

Grayden Sheffield allowed four earned runs on four hits in 2.0 innings. He struck out two.

Portwood struck out two and allowed two earned runs on six hits.

J.U. Blacksher’s Deagan Dailey and K. Cavitt had three hits each to lead the Uriah team.

Northview 9, Pine Forest 8

Northview’s Colby Pugh went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run to lead the Chiefs during the comeback win on March 28.

Trailing 7-3, the Chiefs scored five runs in the fifth inning and scored the game winner in the seventh on the road.

During the fifth inning, Sheffield scored on a steal of home; Portwood scored on an RBI single from Pugh; Pugh scored on a passed ball; Jayden White scored on a passed ball; and Jurey scored on a wild pitch.

The eventual game-winning run came in the seventh when White scored on a throw from left field with two outs.

Brady Smith and Portwood had one hit each for the Chiefs.
