An Atmore man was arrested on drug charges March 28, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Charlie Dean, 68, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 2:10 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Jack Springs Road in reference to an equipment violation on a trailer the vehicle was towing. The officer then contacted Dean.

“Dean was detained after it was discovered he had outstanding warrants for his arrest with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office for a probation revocation in reference to a unlawful possession with intent to distribute,” McMann said. “During a search of Dean’s person, the officers discovered a plastic baggie containing 0.5 grams of methamphetamine and a clear glass pipe, which contained methamphetamine residue.”

Dean was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
