Atmore man arrested on drug charges

APD responded to residence in reference to a domestic disturbance

An Atmore man was arrested April 3 on drug charges, according to officials.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Lagarick Black, 27, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded to the 300 block of Everette Street in reference to a domestic disturbance.

“Once the officers arrived, they contacted Lagarick Black, 27, of Atmore,” he said. “During the investigation, the officers learned the disturbance was only a verbal argument, but discovered Black had an active misdemeanor arrest warrant with the Atmore Police Department.”

McMann added the warrant was for menacing in reference to the same victim.

McMann said upon searching Black upon arrest, the officer discovered a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine in his clothing.

Black was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
