Arrest stems after APD was called to Jack Springs residence in reference to a shots fired call

An Atmore man and a woman were arrested March 30 on multiple drug charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Colton Casey, 26, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, menacing and resisting arrest.

Tessa McClure, 21, also of Atmore, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said in a release that on March 30, at approximately 8:45 p.m., APD officers responded to the 2100 block of Jack Springs Road in reference to a shots fired call.

“When the first officer arrived on the scene, they encountered a subject, later identified as Casey, standing in front of a mobile home (allegedly) brandishing a handgun,” McMann said. “The officer began giving commands to Casey who ran into the mobile home. Additional Atmore police officers, Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies and Poarch Tribal police officers responded to assist and set a perimeter around the area of the trailer.

“Officers then began instructing the individuals in the mobile home to exit one at a time,” he added.

McMann said then the officers conducted a sweep of the mobile home to determine if anyone in the mobile home was injured or if there were potential suspects in the mobile home.

“While conducting the sweep, the officers observed narcotics in plain view,” he said. “The officers then requested consent to search the trailer from the owner of the mobile home.”

McMann said the officers discovered a bowl of 1 gram of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a baggie containing 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, digital scale, a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue, an apple juice bottle with rubber tubing attached, phentermine hydrochloride tablets and ammunition of various calibers.

Casey and McClure were then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
