A Perdido man was arrested April 7 on an active misdemeanor arrest warrant with the Atmore Police Department and for drugs, according to officials.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Joshua T. Johnson, 23, of Perdido, was arrested on the warrant and then charged with possession of a controlled substance and was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

McMann said on the day of the arrest, at approximately 10:45 a.m., APD officers were investigating a disturbance and attempted to contact one of the individuals involved at a residence in the 600 block of Bream Street.

McMann said the officers contacted Johnson in front of the residence.

“The officers checked Johnson’s identification and discovered he had an active misdemeanor arrest warrant with the Atmore Police Department,” McMann said. “After placing Johnson under arrest, the officers discovered a small zip lock baggie containing 2.8 grams of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.”
