The third annual Randell Gordon Nichols Jr. Memorial Scholarship Seafood Boil will be held Sun., June 2, at 4 p.m. at The Publican.
The scholarship was established in 2019 to honor the memory of Gordon Nichols, a 2009 graduate of Escambia County High School. He was a starter on the offensive line for four years, and also played on the defensive line as well.
The funds raised from the benefit go to continue Gordon Nichols’ memorial scholarship at ECHS. Over the past four years, a $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a deserving student. Essays are submitted for the scholarship, and a committee selects the recipient. The future goal of the scholarship fund is to provide increased amounts to benefit additional students.
This year, two $1,000 scholarships were awarded.
Tickets for the seafood boil are $40 each, and include all you can eat and two drinks of choice. Tickets will be printed, and will be available for purchase from Randy and Melissa Nichols. Melissa said she’ll post them on Facebook, and those interested can Venmo her if they choose.
