An Atmore man was arrested May 27 on drug and attempting to elude charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Corderela Dirden, 36, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a pistol, attempting to elude and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 11:15 a.m. on the day of arrest, an APD officer was on routine patrol when he observed Dirden walking in the area of Jack Springs Road.
“The officer was aware Dirden had felony warrants with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office,” McMann said. “When the officer called out to Dirden to come speak with him, Dirden fled on foot.”
McMann said Dirden was then taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
“After taking Dirden into custody, the officer discovered that Dirden was in possession of a handgun and glass pipe with a crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said.
Dirden was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
