“The vehicle continued for a short distance and came to a stop,” McMann said. “The driver, Michael Weaver Jr., age 25 of Atmore, fled on foot from the vehicle carrying an AR-15.”

McMann said during the short foot pursuit, Weaver was observed allegedly discarding the AR-15 in a nearby yard before being taken into custody.

“The AR-15 was reported stolen through the Demopolis Police Department,” he said. “Weaver was also previously convicted of manslaughter.”

Weaver was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
