Poarch Creek Indian CEO and Tribal Chair Stephanie Bryan was named the Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama (GSSA) 2024 Leading Lady during the GSSA’s eighth annual Leading Ladies Awards Brunch June 18.

The brunch was held to recognize outstanding women who are making an impact in their community, as well as organizations that are advancing women in the workforce. 

Associate Justice Sarah H. Stewart, of the Alabama Supreme Court, gave the keynote address, referencing the Girl Scout Law to highlight the values that are central to the Girl Scout Mission. 

In 2014, Bryan became the first woman elected to serve as the Tribal Chair and CEO of the Poarch Creek Indians. She is committed to providing quality healthcare, education and employment opportunities to Poarch Tribal members, as well as citizens of the larger Atmore community, according to a release.

Bryan issued a donation matching challenge in support of GSSA during her remarks. All donations made to Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama using THIS LINK will be matched up to $25,000. 

Christina D. Crow, partner in JinksCrow Trial Lawyers, was inspired by Chair Bryan’s gift to also match donations – quadrupling the potential impact. Other outstanding women recognized at this year’s awards brunch by GSSA included Lindsay Cline, Gulf Coast Workforce Lead for the United States Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base; Allison Ingram, Of Counsel with Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak; Marché Johnson, Montgomery City Councilor, District 3; Azzie Oliver, Chief Deputy District Attorney for Montgomery County; Amanda Salazar, Vice President, Communications & Membership for Manufacture Alabama. 

GSSA also named exploreMedia as the Leading Workplace for Women Award recipient for 2024. ExploreMedia is female-owned and boasts a 100-percent female team. Led by Founder Pam Mashburn, these women work together to deliver a comprehensive suite of solutions—including digital marketing, graphic design, website development, social media management, media consulting and more—to meet clients’ diverse needs.
