An Atmore woman and a Daytona Beach, Fla. woman were arrested June 18 on two possession charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Amy Nelson, 47, of Daytona Beach and Courtney Mitchell, 52, of Atmore, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said the arrest stems after APD officers responded to a room at the Green Lawn Hotel on East Nashville Avenue in reference to a welfare check. When the officers arrived on scene, they contacted Nelson and Mitchell.
“The officers were able to make the determination that Nelson and Mitchell were not in any danger, but noticed narcotics in plain view from the door,” McMann said. “Officers recovered several grams of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, multiple pipes with residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine and items used for ingesting narcotics.”
Nelson and Mitchell were then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
