A Centerville, Ga. man and woman were arrested on drug possession charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Malcolm Barge, 28, and Brooke Emory, 22, both of Centerville, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 9:15 p.m., APD officers on routine patrol on Highway 21 near Interstate 65 observed a vehicle exit the interstate at a high rate of speed, nearly running the stop sign.
McMann said the officers conducted a traffic stop, and contacted Barge and Emory.
“During the interaction, the officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,” McMann said. “The officers removed Barge and Emory from the vehicle to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle. The officers discovered multiple loose oxycodone pills, multiple THC vape pens, over 200 grams of marijuana, liquid codeine in a baby bottle and items used for ingesting narcotics.”
Both were then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
