The Atmore Lions Club held its first ever Softball Classic and Homerun Derby June 21-22 in Poarch.

Josh Burkett Jr. and Taylor Kilpatrick finished first and second, respectively, in the homerun derby Friday night.

Fincher Timber Co. finished first place in the softball tournament with team MNB finishing second.

The tournament was held to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Pilots for Christ.

During opening ceremonies Friday night, Poarch Creek Indian Director of Tribal Emergency Services April Sells threw out the first pitch.
