An Atmore man was arrested on a controlled substance warrant July 8, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Kenneth Rolin, 68, was arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
McMann said on June 28, at approximately 2 a.m., an APD officer observed a vehicle on Jack Springs Road without a license plate.
“The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver (Rolin),” McMann said. “During the officer’s interaction with Rolin he asked for consent to search the vehicle. The officer discovered over a dozen pills in the vehicle he was unable to identify, and seized them in order to properly identify what the pills were. Rolin was released.”
McMann said the officer was able to identify the pills as kratom, which is a controlled substance according to Alabama statutes.
“A narcotics investigator obtained an arrest warrant for Rolin for possession of a controlled substance,” he said.
After being served Rolin was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
