An Atmore woman was taken into custody on suspicion of stealing several thousands of dollars worth of copper wiring from a local business, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said on June 24, at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers were notified of a theft from a local business that occurred a few days prior to the report.
“The on-call investigator worked with the victim and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office to identify the suspects,” McMann said. “Nakia Buxton, age 48, of Atmore was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody. The case is still under investigation and additional arrests are possible.”
Buxton was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center on July 2, 2024.
