Former Atmore Mayor Howard Shell is on a mission this week to clear up any questions surrounding a negative restaurant review of an Atmore eatery posted in his name on the web site Urbanspoon.com and others like it.

“Someone was using my name,” Shell said of the review that appeared last week and quotes him as saying he recently had a bad experience at Dixie Catfish Shack.

“It is absolutely untrue,” Shell said. “They are good friends of mine and we have enjoyed eating there for many years. I just think it is unfortunate that someone can make things up and hide behind the name of the former mayor.”

Shell said he simply wanted to clear the matter up and said the review has since been removed from the site by its administration.
