The Atmore Lions Club’s only fundraiser tees off on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9 a.m.

“It looks promising,” he said. “Participation is up, which is really good.”

The event already has four corporate sponsors, which pays for four golfers and a sign at the course. The four sponsors are: Diamond Oil, Creek Indian Enterprises, First National Bank and Trust.

The entry fee for the two-man scramble is $100 per golfer and cash prizes will be given for the top two teams, Maxwell said.

The event will also feature a silent auction with big prizes, including a package of four rounds of golf at Preserve Golf Club in Vancleave, Miss., a one-night stay at Wind Creek Hotel and Casino, dinner for two at Fire, spa access and cooking studio classes. A Swift Supply cooler and free rounds of golf at Atmore Country Club and Holly Hills Country Club in Bay Minette will also be available as prizes. Door prizes will also be given out, Maxwell said.

Cash prizes will be given out for teams with the low gross score, or low net score, which is the lowest score once handicaps are figured in.

After the tournament, golfers can participate in a cash shootout. It will be $20 to enter and the golfers will be split into groups of four. The golfer with the highest score is dropped at each hole and the last man standing wins the cash.

Lunch will be provided by David’s Catfish and Pepsi will provide drinks. Anyone interested can sign up as late as the day of the event, during the registration period at 8:30 a.m. Anyone with questions can call Maxwell at (251) 238-0303, or (251) 295-0259.
