Competitive eaters Tim Janus, Joey Chestnut and Matt Stonie compete at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in 2013. All three will be in eating contests in Atmore later this month, during Wind Creek’s “Throwdown.”

Wind Creek Casino and Hotel is used to seeing winners, but later this month they’ll welcome an entirely different kind of champion.

Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, the No. 1 competitive eater in the world, will be visiting Atmore during Wind Creek’s “Throwdown 2014,” which is set for Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29.

He will battle against fellow competitive eaters Matt “Megatoad” Stonie and Tim “Eater X” Janus, in two world-championship eating contests.

They will face off in a pork-slider eating contest at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28, and then meet again in the Creek Indian taco eating championship set for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29.

Chestnut, who currently lives in San Diego, Calif., said he entered his first eating contest years ago on the advice of his brother, and quickly came to realize that he had a talent for the unique sport.

“To be good at this sport, you’ve got to love to eat, and you’ve got to love to win,” he said. “I’m both of those. Winning and eating are my two favorite things.”
