Thomas Warren Whisenhant, an inmate at Holman Correctional Facility is scheduled for execution tonight at 6 p.m. at Holman Correctional Facility.

Whisenhant, Alabama’s longest serving death row inmate, will face death by lethal injection for the 1976 rape and murder of 24-year-old Sheryl Lynn Payton. Payton was kidnapped from a convenience store in Theodore that she was employed with.

No filings have been made to stop the execution of Whisenhant.
