“Officers arrived on scene and spoke with family members who said Percy Nero Jr. became irate with his brother because he would not take him for a ride in his car,” Brooks said. “Family members said Nero Jr. at that point began damaging the brother’s car by breaking the driver and passenger side view mirrors, and damaging the door handles.”

Brooks said officers attempted to speak with Nero, but he barricaded himself inside the home and was armed with a knife.

“Nero threatened the officers and said if they ‘entered the home, he was gonna kill them,’” he said. “After approximately one hour of talking with Nero, officers were able to disarm him and place him under arrest.”

Nero was treated at Atmore Community Hospital for a minor cut on his hand, and later transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
