The Atmore City Council declared a residence on Perch St. a public nuisance, and approved its removal at a meeting on Monday night.

The structure is located at 610 Perch St., and Building Inspector Chris Black said all of the right notices were issued and asked the council to declare the residence a public nuisance.

In other business:

• Tom Tschida presented a certificate of appreciation to Frank Gossett for his prison ministry with the Alabama Department of Corrections; and,

• the council approved a construction engineering services contract with Civil Southeast Engineering LLC.

On Sat., March 25, the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans event will be held at Heritage Park at 4 p.m.

The event is held to recognize Vietnam War veterans, and all are welcome.
