Atmore man dies in Ann Street shooting

The Atmore Police Department is seeking information in regard to a homicide that took place early this morning on Broad Street.

Chief Chuck Brooks said at approximately 3:16 a.m., the APD responded to 170 Broad St., in Atmore, in response to two people being shot inside of the home.

“Atmore police arrived on scene and immediately noticed damage to the front door,” he said. “Officers entered the residence and found the home owner, Robert Kennedy, 56, of Atmore, and Joi McClammey, 45, of Flomaton, lying in bed with gunshot injuries.”

Brooks said Kennedy was transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center by LifeFlight, where he later died from injuries. McClammey was transported to Atmore Community Hospital, but later transferred to USA, where she is listed in serious condition.

Investigators were told that a single gunman entered the home and demanded money from the victims, Brooks said.
