The sentencing for an Atmore man who was indicted in 2015 for the reckless murder of his brother in a “stand your ground” shooting in McCullough will be held this afternoon at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton.

According to Atmore Advance archives, the incident occurred on May 6, 2015, at James “Jamie” Tolin Scott’s Jefferson Avenue home. Scott is accused of fatally shooting his brother, Tony Tolin Scott, with a small caliber rifle. Records also show Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies had previously responded to other physical altercations between the brothers at the home.

Scott was indicted in August 2015 by a grand jury following the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office investigation of the incident.
