Chotaw, Clarke, Conecuh, and Escambia Counties were to work together to bring new services to this area.

Two Brewton brothers were stopped in a regular traffic stop on Mildred Street. Police were surprised to find 28 small bags of marijuana and $2,400 in cash.

They do such a good job with this every year. We have a lot of talent in our area, but I am not one of them. I was in my senior play when I was a senior in high school, but I did not stand out as an actress.

Carl and Erin Lambeth announced the birth of their son, Tucker Cain Lambeth. I believe they were from Pollard.

It was announced that Alan Baker was named to the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame. Good job, Alan. You deserved it.

The body of a man who had been missing since Jan. 1, was found in Conecuh County. There was an ongoing investigation but his death was thought to have been the result of natural causes. Three Brewton residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of AL 41 and Travis Road. It is believed that the weather conditions were partly to blame for this accident as it had been raining. Every time it rains, the streets and roads are more dangerous on which to drive. We have several streets that are known to be slippery when it rains and everyone needs to be very careful.

Wal-Greens announced that they will open their doors here in Brewton on Feb. 15th.

It doesn’t seem as if it has been that long since the store opened, but time flies.

The Brewton Music Festival was scheduled to be held in Burnt Corn Creek Park (now Jennings Park). The headline entertainer was to be Chris Golden, the son of William Lee Golden. The younger Golden had his own band and also played drums for The Oak Ridge Boys.

Lastly, a reception was held for Dan Shaddock, Director of the YMCA, who retired after being there since 2002.

Dan was a very nice man and loved to be around people. Replacing him was Stephen Dickey, also a very nice man.
