The Atmore Police Department is seeking information in regard to a car jacking that occurred on Nov. 9.

Chief Chuck Brooks said last Friday, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the APD responded to 111 W. Ridgeley St., concerning a person’s car being stolen.

“Officers arrived on scene and met with a 73-year-old female, who stated that while she was getting in her car, someone grabbed her and put a knife to her body, and stated that if she complied, she would not be harmed,” Brooks said. “She exited the vehicle and the suspect took possession of her car, and fled the scene.”

“The crime scene investigative unit was called to process the car for any evidence,” he said.

At present, Brooks said the APD is still looking for the suspect, and those with any information are encouraged to call the APD at 251-368-9141.
