The passion and love for his work with the Tribe was evident in Muskogee Technology (MT) President and CEO Wes Woodruff’s voice.

Woodruff was the guest speaker at the Atmore Rotary Club’s weekly meeting on Jan. 22.

Muskogee Technology is an entity of Creek Indian Enterprises Development Authority and is owned by the Poarch Creek Indians, a federally recognized Indian tribe in the state of Alabama.

MT provides a variety of services to meet the needs of aerospace, defense, heavy machinery, wind energy and oil and gas industries, according to the company’s website. Services include composite fiber cutting and kitting, inventory management, metal fabrication, precision machining and manufacturing.

Woodruff said the main facility, located at 601 Muskogee Blvd., was the old Vanity Fair building, and sits on 11 acres. Combined with the North Main Street location, MT has 77 employees.

Last year, MT put in $1 million into the building, and created 20 new jobs, he said.

“We’re on schedule to have 20 new jobs in 2019,” Woodruff said.

Among the companies MT’s services provide parts for include Austal, Lockheed Martin and Airbus, to name a few.

Woodruff said MT’s primary line of service is in the aerospace industry.

“With the Tribe’s economic support, our opportunities are endless,” he said.

Additionally, MT ships the fixtures for wind turbine blades to customers.

As of late, MT has processed 100 percent of the composite material for the outside of the Honda Jet fuselage.

Recently, MT completed a five-month process of certification and has received its designation as an AS9100D manufacturer.

A widely adopted and standardized quality management system, AS9100 is an internationally recognized quality management standard specifically written for the aerospace industry, and is based on the ISO:9001 quality management system (QMS) standard. Compliance with this specification is confirmed through a complex auditing and certification process, according to a release.

The process consists of three steps, beginning with applying for the registration, which is made by completing the Aerospace Quote Request Form. Next there is the assessment phase of AS9100D, which is undertaken by NQA one of the largest and most respected certification bodies in the world, and consists of two mandatory visits that form the Initial Certification Audit. Finally, the certification is issued by NQA, which boasts over 35,000 certifications in over 70 countries worldwide.

Woodruff said working and living here is a passion for him, and that it’s important to pass on to future legacies in the Tribe.
