Rain is in the forecast Tuesday through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS Mobile office said on its Facebook page this morning that a prolonged period of heavy rain Tuesday through Thursday may result in flash flooding, especially in areas hardest hit by recent heavy rains.

Between 2-4 inches of rain are expected widespread, and some 6-8 inches locally.

“It doesn’t stop there though,” NWS officials said. “Severe weather potential is on the increase Wednesday into Thursday. Wednesday into Wednesday night features a marginal risk for severe storms including an isolated, brief tornado, damaging winds and quarter size hail over our southwestern CWA.

“Thursday through Thursday night may feature a more robust severe threat, where the entire CWA is under a slight risk. All severe hazards are possible, including damaging winds, tornadoes and large hail.”
