“This quaint city park surrounded by tall pines, oak trees, a central gazebo and walking trail offers the perfect setting for this event,” Sheryl Vickery, executive director of the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce, said. “We will have something for everyone – arts, crafts, plenty of good food and the entertainment from the gazebo stage featuring Sixty Grit, a faith-based blues/jazz band, country and southern rock singer/songwriter, Shane Harrell and the Major Moves Band. We also have a very talented young country singer/songwriter, Wade Trammell from Chattanooga, Tenn. Others entertaining will be Sarah O’Leary, Danielle Scott, Abby Akins, Felicia Bishop and the Christian rap sound of Calvin Davis from St. Petersburg, Fla. The local baton twirling group, Twirl Time, will also be performing.”

Vickery said kids activities include rides and games, the Williams Station train ride, walking characters courtesy of State Farm Insurance, face painting courtesy of United Bank, pony rides, a dunking booth and more. There will also be some inflatables for the children to enjoy.

Two features of the day will be the “Beautiful Baby Contest” and the “Pooch Parade.” In the baby contest, toddlers ages three months through three years of age will participate for prizes and all will receive a “Beautiful Baby Contest” T-shirt. The Atmore Advance is the sponsor for the contest.

The very popular “Pooch Parade” will also be a special event. This is the second year that doggies and their owners are invited to participate in a parade around the walking trail where judges will choose the best doggie costume and give special recognition to “Miss Prissy Pup” and “Mister Manly Mutt.”This event is sponsored by local veterinarians, Atmore Animal Hospital and Lee Veterinary Clinc, P.C. as well as K-9 Kleaners and the Atmore Chamber office.

In addition to all the fun and entertainment. there will be a growing number of arts and craft booths set up in the park. Vickery said the Chamber is still accepting vendor applications. They can be picked up at the Chamber office or call the Chamber at 251-368-3305.

“We still have applications for booths coming in,” Vickery said. “We will continue to accept applications until Tuesday. Since it is Mother’s Day weekend, this would make an excellent event to take her to and enjoy.”
