Local held in robbery

An Atmore man was arrested along with three juveniles Saturday night after police said the group made an attempt to rob a Brewton gas station.

Police said the suspects ran from the Murphy Express on Douglas Avenue after begin spotted by clerks before entering the store.

Tilon Debardelabon, 20, of Atmore and three juveniles have been arrested  and charged with attempted robbery.

Brewton Police Sgt. Patrick Caylor said the department received a call around 8:35 p.m. Saturday about the robbery attempt.

“The clerks at the store stated that three subjects came to the door of the store dressed in dark color clothes and wearing bandannas over their faces,” Caylor said. “One clerk also stated the the three subjects took off running toward Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union.”

The observant clerks were able to provide additional details to officers about the suspects. “They stated that there was one female and two male subjects,” Caylor said. “They were also able to give officers a detailed description of one of the male subjects.”

Although no leads were found immediately following the Saturday night incident, East Brewton officers later apprehended the suspects and arrested them, Caylor said. Debardelabon is being held on $25, 000 bond.
