Atmore golfer wins scratch tour event

Atmore resident Tyler Brown won an event at Rock Creek Golf Club on the Miller Lite Scratch Tour.

Atmore resident Tyler Brown picked up a big win at Rock Creek Golf Club last weekend as a part of the Miller Lite Scratch Tour.

The Miller Lite Scratch Tour is an amateur golf tour held in southern Alabama that holds one tournament a month for seven months between February and September. The tournaments are scratch events meaning there are no handicaps or scrambles involved.

The win at Rock Creek was Brown’s second victory of the tour with the first coming at Magnolia Groves on March 3-4. In that tournament, he finished tied for the lead with Will Daigle and Patrick Bell. All three golfers had a combined score of 147.

In his victory at Rock Creek, won by two strokes with a score of 144. He shot a 70 in the first round and a 74 in the second round to finish even overall.

Brown also has a Top 10 finish to his credit at Heron Lakes Country Club where he finished 10th.

Through the month of May after Rock Creek, Brown sits atop the regular division’s Player of the Year Points with 188.5 points. The next closest competitor is Matt Ritchie with 175 points.

Brown will next compete in the tour on June 15-16 at Craft Farms: Cotton Creek Course in Gulf Shores.
