Cougar cheerleaders win big in state contests

The Escambia Academy varsity and junior varsity cheerleading squads came away from this year’s summer camp with a handful of awards this week, including a third straight Alabama Independent School Association small squad varsity state championship.

The 2012 camp, held at the Huntington University, ended Thursday and Cougar cheer awards won during the competition include: The varsity home pom championship; the varsity extreme routine championship; the AISA small squad varsity state championship; the junior varsity extreme routine championship; the junior varsity AISA small squad runner-up award. Individual cheer awards went to: Varsity Co-Captain Caitlyn Bruley and Varisty Captain Page Lancaster for achieving AISA All Star and United Cheer Association All American status; Lancaster for being invited to try outs for the UCA staff; junior varsity Co-Captain Bailey Lancsaster and Captain Mikayla Spruill for achieving UCA All American status.
