The Atmore Christian Lady Rams won their first game of the season, beating West Florida Baptist 13-9 Friday.

ACS hit the ball well, which was the difference in the game. The Lady Rams as a team went 10-27 from the plate, coach Tim Battles said.

ACS did struggle defensively in the second inning, which led to five runs for West Florida.

“We had three walks out of four batters,” Battles said. “That’s why they were able to get a few runs there. After that we calmed down.”

Pitcher Karrie Hillburn threw a complete game for the win.

Lauren Metzler went three-for-four from the plate, but reached base a fourth time due to an error.

“She put the ball in play every time between the shortstop and third baseman and beat it out,” Battles said. “She had a really good game.”

Charity Hall also went three-for-four and reached base all four times up while Narissa Wiggins went two-for-two from the plate with two walks.

The Lady Rams don’t play again until Thursday, March 14 when they travel to Robertsdale to take on Central Christian.
