The seven teams participating in this year’s Babe Ruth Softball League will take the field Saturday, May 4 for opening day.

The ceremony will coincide with Atmore’s MayFest. The games will begin at 9 a.m. with opening day ceremonies kicking off at 10:15 a.m.

“We are so proud of our parents and supporters for giving these the opportunity to enjoy softball and stay active,” said league president Shirley Simpkins. “Some of these girls will develop a lifelong love of the sport and others will just enjoy it as a summer recreational activity.”

For Atmore, the teams representing the 6 to 9-year-olds are the David’s Catfish Marlins and the First National Bank Magnolias. The team representing the 10 year olds is the Atmore Strikeforce, 12U teams are the South Alabama Vending Sluggers and the United Bank Silver Eagles and the 16U teams are the Pepsi
