The Atmore Christian School Lady Rams took third after competing in the Final Four of the Panhandle Christian Conference in Loxley.

The Lady Rams beat West Florida 10-8 in rainy conditions Friday, but lost in a rematch to Central 7-3 and lost to Emmanuel Christian 10-0 Saturday.

ACS held a 10-5 lead Friday before the rain came down, surrendering five runs in the fifth and final inning.

“The field was a mudhole, which gave all the advantages to the hitters,” said ACS coach Tim Battles. “We had a hard time finding the strike zone in the later innings.”

Despite the rain, Battles said his team played well in the first game of the tournament.

“We played really well,” Battles said. “We did a lot of good things. I would’ve liked to have seen more timely hits.”

Pitcher Kerrie Hillburn had a solid performance, Battles said.

“Kerrie pitched well,” he said. “She didn’t struggle until the rain started.”

Grace Kilcrease went one-for-three, Hillburn went one-for-two and Lauren Metzler went one-for-one with two RBIs in the win.

ACS couldn’t muster enough offense to make a stand against Emmanuel Saturday.

“They weren’t an overpowering team,” Battles said. “They just did everything well.”

He was happy with his team’s effort despite the loss.

“We did alright against them we just couldn’t string anything together,” Battles said. “They scattered our hits.”

In ACS’ final game of the season, they played Central Christian of Robertsdale to a 4-3 game in the seventh inning before the Saints put it out of reach.

“They had three hits that they put in-between us,” he said. “They scored three runs in the seventh.”
