A former NBA coach will be in Bratt later this month to teach a basketball clinic that is doing more than just teaching fundamentals of the game.

Roger Dutremble, who coached under Pat Riley with the Los Angeles Lakers and was the international team coach for Belguim, Scotland and Jordan, will be at Bratt Baptist Church July 22-26 to teach basketball fundamentals to children 8 to 14 years old as part of a faith-based Christian ministry for Global Sports Outreach.

The clinic is a mission for the church as well where all of the proceeds from the $35 clinic fee go to help the outreach’s ministry mission to developing countries.

“We’re privileged to have him,” said Bratt Baptist Church Pastor of Students the Rev. Tim Hawsey.

In addition to basketball fundamentals the camp, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day, will include devotionals.

The clinic, which will include the age-appropriate member of the church, will be used as a youth ministry for the church with older children helping out.

The church hosted the clinic last year with much success, Hawsey said. Around 33 boys and girls attended.

Those who wish to attend the camp, or for more information, call the church at 850-327-6529.
