The Northwest Escambia Eagles claimed three victories in games this weekend in Excel.

The freshman team lost 29-19 with Zyonne Wesley scoring the only points on three touchdowns and one extra point.

Aiden Odom, Jackson Simmons and Wesley all made tackles for loss. The freshman can still reach the playoffs if they win out the rest of the season.

Sophomores won 15-6 to remain undefeated.

T.J. Wright scored two touchdowns and Aiden Broadhead scored an extra point for the eagles. Defense was important in the game with Nathan Chavers getting credit for a sack and recovering a fumble.

John Michael Ward made several tackles in the back field, Travis Scott had several stops and Kaden Odom getting several tackles and a safety to end the game. The Eagles, at 5-0, have secured a playoff berth on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The juniors beat Excel 45-0 in the Escambia River Conference’s game of the week. The shutout also marked the first loss of the season for the Panthers.

Jayden Jackson, Jaheem Durant, Jacob Lee, Jaden Cunningham, Dariontae Richardson and Michael Merchant all scored for the Eagles. Jackson also returned an interception for a touchdown. Durant also had an interception.

Logan Bryan, Hayden Thrower, Jamarkus Jefferson, Durant, Richardson and Ki-Juana Carter all made tackles for loss. Thrower added two sacks and Jefferson had two sacks as well as a fumble recovery.

The juniors have scored at least one defensive touchdown in each of the games they have played. The win moves them to 5-0 on the year and they have clinched a playoff spot.

The seniors also left Excel with a shutout win of 54-0.

Aunterio Minor had three rushing touchdowns and Trent Kite had two rushing touchdowns in the win. Seth Killam threw two touchdown passes – one to Tanner Deese and one to Keaton Solomson, while Cameron Cloud threw a touchdown pass to Jay Helton.

Tyler Kite had a fumble recovery on defense, while Javontaye Wright, Keegun Johnston, Wyatt Windham, Jonathan Windham, Jason Fayard, Tyrese Smith and Trent Peebles all played well on defense. It was the fourth shutout on the season for the seniors.

NWE will travel to take on Poarch Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
