Junior Lee Vestal

Junior Lee Vestal, 74, of Atmore, passed away June 6, 2014, in Pensacola, Fla.

He was born in High Point, N.C., on Nov. 29, 1938, to the late Jonie and Bessie N. Vestal of Mocksville, N.C. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Cuban Crises. He was a member of Cross Point Baptist Church.

Those who preceded him in death include his parents; a brother, Leo F. Vestal; a grandson, Chris Berryman; a brother-in-law, Jerry Suits; and his late wife Shirley K. Vestal, all of North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Irma Jean Macks Vestal of Atmore; children, Patsy Jean Alverson of Atmore, Ronnie (Molly) Lee Vestal and Rhonda Vestal, both of Statesville, N.C., Ray (Londy) Himes of Flomaton, Brenda (Danny) Hill of Atmore, Shane (Brenda) Haskew of Brewton and Jerry (Bernice) Haskew of Andalusia; his siblings, Billie (Dorothy) Vestal, sister-in-law, Margaret Vestal, both of Yadkinville, N.C., Wesley (Diane) Vestal of Jacksonville, N.C., Betty (Tony) Upright, Mary V. Suits, both of Statesville, N.C.; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 9, from Cross Point Baptist Church, with Bro. J.T. Guyton officiating. Burial will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time at Cross Point Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers were his grandsons Jason, Douglas, Jacob, Cody, Cameron, David, John and J.T.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
