The city of Atmore started a new tradition Tuesday night, as the official Christmas tree was lit for the first time.

Atmore Mayor Jim Staff turned on the lights at 5:15 p.m., during the “An Evening with Santa in Heritage Park” event.

Those in attendance enjoyed free refreshments and sang Christmas carols before the lighting ceremony. Kids also participated in train rides and visits with Santa Claus.
