Joel Clinton Sockwell

Joel Clinton Sockwell, 77, of Montgomery, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015.

He was born on May 28, 1938, in Tuscumbia, to the late Hollis and Ella Hunter Sockwell. He graduated from Georgia Tech University in 1962.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Ray Sockwell.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Crane Wood of Montgomery; two sons Dr. Matthew Dean Sockwell of Dahlonega, Ga. and Benjamin Eric Sockwell of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Kim Leigh Sockwell of Santa Fe, N.M.; one brother, William David Sockwell of Tuscumbia; and four grandchildren, Christopher Scott Schroeder, Mackenzie Claire Sockwell, John Eli Sockwell and Noah Sockwell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, at 3 p.m., from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Debora Bishop officiating.

Burial will follow in Judson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
