Lillie Bell Blackman Jones

Mrs Lillie Bell Blackman Jones, 87, of Atmore, entered the Presence of The Lord peacefully on July 9, 2015, at the home of her daughter.

A native of Wilcox County, Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 26, 1927, to Dennis and Carrie Frye Blackman. She was educated in Wilcox County. She was a devoted member of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, where she served as president of the Pastor’s Aide Board and the Gospel Choir.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Bufford Jones; a son, Beauford “Spunk” Jones; two grandchildren, Christopher Jones and Latoria McCullam; and 13 siblings.

Those left to cherish her the legacy of her life are two sons, Albert Lee Jones of Monroe, La. and the Rev. Charles (Glenda) Jones of Atmore; two daughters, Catherine Jones and Linda Faye Jones-George, both of Atmore; one sister, Francis Blackman of Camden; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Angela Jones of Fairhope; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; two very devoted friends, Veola Anderson and Clara Harris, both of Atmore; and two special devoted nephews.

Celebratory Life service will be held Saturday, July 18, at 1 p.m., at Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe L. Hayes, pastor, officiating.

Retirement of her remains will be in Stallworth Cemetery. Public viewing will be Friday from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Her body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
