Twelve seniors and a deep pitching staff lead Northview into the 2017 baseball season.

The Chiefs will carry 16 on their varsity squad, which is still trying to figure out where players will land on the field, NHS coach Jerry Greenwell said.

Pitchers include Josh Smith, Seth Killam, Josh Neese, Bailey Wilson and Zach Payne.

The deep pitching staff will be beneficial for NHS as the Florida High School Athletic Association approved a revised rule, where if a pitcher pitches 105 pitches in one game, he is required to rest for seven days.

“We’re going to need them,” Greenwell said of the pitchers.

In district play, the Chiefs will play with Baker, Chipley, Freeport, Jay and South Walton in Class 1A, Region 2, District 3.
