Blue Devils to sport new uniforms this fall

The Escambia County Blue Devils will sport a new look this season when they debut their new uniforms in their jamboree game against Linden on Aug. 20 at Herbert Barnes Stadium.

The Nike jersey that the Blue Devils will wear are modeled after the same uniforms that the Oklahoma State Cowboys wear, only in the traditional royal blue and white of ECHS.

Blue Devils head coach Mark Heaton said getting new uniforms was a process that involved not just the school, but the community as well.

“The first thing we had to do was find some help to make this possible,” Heaton said. “We had a lot of people from within the community and from businesses that helped us supply the needs of this program. They did it out of the sincerity of their hearts, and purchasing new uniforms is one of the things that we’ve been able to do. We wanted to get something sharp that would get us noticed, and I think we accomplished that.”

Quality and cost were some of the factors that went into the uniform prior to purchase.

Heaton said he wanted to find something nice that would not stop the program from supplying further needs.

“We just looked to see what the nicest thing we could get was, while we also kept the cost down, so we could supply other needs of the team,” he said. “I’m a quality guy, and I always want to put the kids in quality things, and I feel that we are doing that.”
