Blue Devils play at Andalusia Friday in playoffs

For the first time in three years, the Escambia County Blue Devils will compete in the AHSAA playoffs when they travel to Andalusia on Friday to take on the Andalusia Bulldogs.

The Blue Devils (7-3, 4-3) finished No. 4 in Class 4A, Region 1, while the Bulldogs finished 9-1 overall and won Class 4A, Region 2.

ECHS head coach Mark Heaton said he is grateful that his team made it to the playoffs in his first season.

“We are very thankful to have the opportunity to keep playing,” Heaton said. “God has been good to us this season. We are just thankful for the opportunity.”

Below are the other match ups in the playoffs for the Class 4A championship:

South Bracket

• Ashford (8-2) at Jackson (9-1)
• Calera (6-4) at Bibb Co. (9-1)
• Greene Co. (6-4) at Beauregard (7-3)

• Hillcrest-Evergreen (7-3) at Thomasville (10-0)
• UMS-Wright (6-4) at Straughn (9-1)
• West Blocton (5-5) at Dadeville (10-0)
• Holtville (7-3) at Jemison (6-4)

North Bracket

• Dora (3-7) at Anniston (8-2)
• Oneonta (7-3) at Oak Grove (8-2)
• Cherokee Co. (5-5) at Deshler (8-2)
• West Limestone (8-2) at Fairview (9-1)

• Alexandria (6-4) at Fayette Co. (8-2)
• Tarrant (6-3) at Cleburne Co. (8-2)
