Friday night is almost upon the Atmore area and there are still football games going on with the Escambia County Blue Devils playing the first round of the playoffs and the Northview Chiefs hoping to secure a bid for the postseason.

The Blue Devils travel to Andalusia Friday night to take on the No. 8-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs for their first playoff game since 2007.

Blue Devils head coach Mark Heaton said this week’s practices have gone well for his team.

“Things have gone great this week” Heaton said. “We had a good, long day of practices on Monday and a shorter day Tuesday. The kids are focused, which they should be because this is the point of the season where they know all of the fundamentals, but they just have to work to keep them sharp. They just need to pay attention to detail.”

The Northview Chiefs will be at home in Bratt, Fla. this week to take on the Vernon Yellow Jackets. A win in this important district game will help give the Chiefs a boost as they fight for a playoff berth.

Both kickoffs are set for 7 p.m. start times.
