Escambia Academy opened the season on the right foot by winning the Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Lowndes Academy on Monday and Tuesday.

The Cougars (2-0, 0-0) defeated the Marengo Academy Longhorns 41-40 in the finals to earn the championship and opened the tournament with a 57-54 win over the Sparta Warriors.

Cougar Darron McGhee finished as the tournament’s MVP, while he along with Tanner Kirk and Keaton Maher were selected to the All-Tournament team.
