The Cougars of Canoe lit up the scoreboard on Monday night against the visiting Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars.

The Cougars in maroon and gold crushed their counterparts in blue 60-44 in front of a home crowd.

The first quarter of the game was a battle as the teams went point for point to end the period tied at 16.

In the second quarter, the EA Cougars gained momentum and ran with it as they took the lead and outscored CCA 12-9 to go into halftime up 28-25.

Following halftime, EA continued to lead and they extended their lead by outscoring Crenshaw 16-7 in the third quarter.

Leading 44-32 to start the fourth period, the Cougars put the finishing touches on their victory as they outscored Crenshaw 16-12 and won 60-44.

Cougars Keaton Maher and Darron McGhee led EA with 14 points apiece. Maher also had eight rebounds, four blocks and two assists, while McGhee had nine rebounds and two assists.

Tanner Kirk finished the win with 11 points, five rebounds, four steals, two assists and block.

Escambia Academy’s junior varsity crushed Crenshaw Christian Academy 59-25 in Canoe on Monday afternoon.

The EA Cougars led from start to finish as they outscored the visiting Cougars 12-6 in the first quarter and 12-8 in the second period.

After leading 24-14 at halftime, the Cougars never looked back as they extended their lead and came away with a 59-25 win.

Cougar Jacob Dean led the way for EA scoring 19 points and recording seven rebounds and one steal.
