ECMS routs Gulf Shores

Escambia County Middle School’s Eagles built an early lead and maintained it for four quarters as they manhandled the Gulf Shores Dolphins 42-25 on Monday night at Escambia County Middle School.

The Eagles (5-3) dominated both ends of the court as they found their tempo early and used it to constantly build on the lead they gained in the first quarter.

ECMS jumped on top of the Dolphins to open the game as they grabbed an 11-point lead outscoring Gulf Shores 17-6.

The home team dug a deeper hole for their visitors in the second period by outscoring them 11-7 in the second quarter to take a 28-13 lead into halftime.

Following halftime, the Eagles were able to play several players off their bench, but still held their stranglehold on the lead.

In the third quarter, neither team could buy a basket as ECMS and Gulf Shores each only scored four points, but in the fourth quarter the Eagles again outscored the Dolphins this time 10-8 to come away from the contest with  a 42-25 victory.

Eagle David Johnson and Jerome Webster led ECMS with 13 points each. Johnson also recorded eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks, while Webster finished with eight assists, seven rebounds and three blocks.
