EA Cougars crush Wilcox 69-51

The Cougars of Canoe improved to 9-0 on the season with a 69-51 victory over the Wilcox Wildcats in Camden on Monday night.

The Cougars were led by the double-doubles of Keaton Maher and Darron McGhee. Maher scored 19 points with 12 rebounds, while McGhee posted 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The Cougars led the contest from start to finish as they outscored the Wildcats in all but one quarter.

EA jumped out to a comfortable lead in the first quarter outscoring the Wildcats 16-8.

In the second quarter, the Cougars continued to control the game as they outscored the Wildcats 19-11 to take the lead into halftime ahead 35-19.

After halftime, the Wildcats attempted to cut into the deficit they faced, but the Cougars lead was too much to overcome.

In the third quarter, Wilcox was able to outscore EA 17-13, but the Cougars held their lead 48-36.

In the fourth quarter, the Cougars put the game away by adding 21 more points to the Wildcats’ 15 and picked up the win 69-51.

Tanner Kirk scored 13 points for the Cougars to go along with three steals, two rebounds and one assist.

Brandon Goddard added nine points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist with Jaylen Henry scoring eight points with six assists and two rebounds.

Jordan Sasser and Wesley Steadham each scored two points for the Cougars in the win.
