Well, college football season has finally come to an end with the final bowl game being played Monday night with the Tostitos BCS National Championship in Glendale, Ariz.

The No. 1 Auburn Tigers and the No. 2 Oregon Ducks faced off in what everyone thought would be a battle of great offense, but turned into a surprising defensive struggle.

The Tigers were able to squeak out the 22-19 victory with a last-second field goal by kicker Wes Byrum connecting from 19-yards out.

The game, while competitive and well-covered by ESPN was sloppy at times with neither offense really showing any kind of spark.

The Oregon offense especially went away from what made them such a prolific team during the season one that averaged 49. 3 points per game.

It seemed that the Ducks wanted to prove that they could match up with the stronger defensive line of Auburn and they were shown they could not win that way.

The Tigers continuously overpowered the offensive line of Oregon and stopped the prolific run game that Oregon has.

What Oregon was able to was connect on big passes, but they did it so rarely they really defeated themselves.

Their defense did its job by containing Cam Newton on several possessions, but when it came time for the offense to answer they buried themselves in deep holes.

On fourth-and-goal from the one instead of using their speed to their advantage and trying something outside, they lined up and went toe-to-toe with the Auburn front and were stopped. If they score a touchdown right there, then the final polls come out differently.

What’s done is done though and congratulations to Auburn for winning a the National Championship.

Also done is our Advance Bowl Game Challenge that saw contestants try and pick the outcome of 14 bowl games with the Top 3 contestants earning a pair of tickets to the Under Armour Senior Bowl in Mobile on Jan. 29.
